Assistant Child Care Director (Full-time)
This position is accountable for ensuring that the program provides a warm, nurturing, safe, and loving
environment for each child, where self-concepts are enhanced, independence is encouraged, and
individuality is respected among all people. This person is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the
site.

individuality is respected among all people. This person is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the
site.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the center, including scheduling and supervision of staff and maintaining appropriate classroom staff ratios.
- Establish and maintain good communication between staff and director.
- Participate in the hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of program staff.
- Maintain staff documentation and forms/reports
- Schedule, plan, and direct monthly staff meetings.
- Prepare and provide appropriate forms/ reports needed for operations, including meal count and attendance sheets
- Monitor the implementation of the curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for each group of children served (Infant, Toddler, Preschool). This curriculum must include social, emotional, cognitive, and physical activities.
- Create lesson plans that are stimulating and developmentally appropriate, assisting teachers in their implementation.
- Stimulate staff with new ideas, resources, and developmentally appropriate materials.
- Conduct parent tours, enrollment, and parent orientations.
- Develop and maintain communication links with parents and promote opportunities for parent outreach activities
- Attend and participate in professional training, conferences, and other events representing our center.
- Seek opportunities for quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and other resources to raise the standard of quality beyond licensing standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential OR an Associate's Degree OR higher in a directly related field; or 1 year of teaching experience
- Have a warm, friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, can relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill job responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy.
- Child CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and First Aid certifications are preferred or will to be trained within 30 days of employment
- Must be of good mental and physical health, capable of mature judgment, and possess knowledge and experience in management, and interpersonal relationships.
- Must be a model, demonstrating the kinds of values, attitudes, expectations, beliefs, and choices that make our organization excellent.
- Must be willing to certify attendance of 6-13 hours of approved training related to child care annually.
- Minimum 6 months of managing a child care
PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Speak one or more languages in addition to English
- Have experience working with diverse communities
