OUR PHILOSOPHY

OUR FOCUS:  What makes our work unique

We strive to assist the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of each child. It is our priority to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing atmosphere where children have the opportunity to explore the environment, problem-solve, and scaffold their learning, as they learn through play. We believe that early childhood is a significant period of the child’s life and is a time for fun, discovery, adventure, imagination and learning through play. Because of this, we offer an inviting, welcoming and nurturing environment that meets and reflects the needs of the children, families and the community and provides opportunities to discover, imagine, explore, experiment and interact.

OUR GOALS:
  • Eliminate disparities in early childhood education
  • Foster innovation
  • Provide affordable, convenient, dependable child care services
  • Provide a nurturing environment
  • Embrace team work
  • Provide learning experiences
  • Respect diversity and support families
  • Communicate openly, effectively and seek to understand

WHAT WE PROVIDE:
  • Developmental approach to teaching based on current brain research
  • Age appropriate curriculum
  • Multilingual and multicultural environment
  • Experienced, culturally sensitive and CPR and first aid certified staff
  • Nutritional and healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks included

OUR ENVIRONMENT

Our environment is open, creative, and lively.  It also has opportunity for smaller quiet spaces as we love to use our furnishings, storage centers, and learning materials to create niches for reading, interactive play, art, and many other specific activities that are geared well for small groups or individuals.  We have allowed for tables and group spaces as well as cozy corners.  All space is easy to monitor and supervise, but give flexibility and creativity to the teachers as well as the students.

Our environment is thoughtfully arranged to aid in the transition in drop off/picking up as well as arranged to create spaces for each age group cluster:  infants, toddlers, and preschool.  The areas allow for staff to support each other and everyone support the children.  Staff are cross trained for all ages and this allows for flexibility and maximum communication as a team.

Our environment is ACTIVE and full of ENERGY!  We encourage and organize physical activity indoors and out of doors with our play area.  We utilize technology for music to interact with and music to relax at rest/nap time.  We also utilize the technology for kid-yoga and other activities that get our bodies moving, minds churning (or relaxing) and brings in infinite possibilities for brief learning experiences from abroad.  We incorporate STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) into the curriculum and foster discovery, inquiry, and creation.

We strive for a beautiful and colorful environment that is not overwhelming but instead inspiring.  And, we are durable, organized, clean, and maintained.  We all pitch in to maintain this goal and we also have after hours staff to provide additional support.

OUR QUALITY

We insist on quality within all of our operations, interactions, partnership, and actions.  As a reflection of this focus, we have embarked on the quality assurance program that is part of the Bright and Early program in North Dakota.

Currently, we have completed the Phase I and we are diligently working on Phase II.  This entails additional training for our teachers in creating the best learning environments possible as well as refining and honing their skills and interactions for maximum engagement and effectiveness.  We will visit other high-quality centers and network which forms a fabric of quality in the state.  We eagerly embark on this next step and will continue to update on our progress.

OUR COMMITMENT TO STRENGTH & GROWTH

S.M.A.R.T Approach

Picture
S.M.A.R.T. is a developmental approach to teaching that takes advantage of current brain research. It focuses on stimulation of the brain stem verses the brain cortex, the area where most curricula is focused. In fact, most curricula assume the brain is fully prepared to learn once a child arrives at the doorstep of school. However, for a number of reasons, that's often not the case.

The brain stem is where all automatic function takes place, such as our eyes moving smoothly back and forth across the page as we read or the ability to look from the desk to the board and back to the desk without interruption. When the brain stem has been stimulated so that it's fully operational, the stem is able to do its automatic function work and that allows the cortex to do its own important work, like comprehension and analysis.
